well you definately wont have to worry about your computer running the game, ill tell you that much!

Guild Wars is definately what I look for in a MMO

1. There is a level cap of 20. You can get max level somewhat easily. You can also make a PvP-Only character that will Start at lvl 20. Even when you reach level 20 with your PvE character, you will have PLENTY to do-> dont let the number game get you down (world of warcraft fans and the like will use this to say that guild wars is a joke- but their games have no point once you max out your character- in guild wars when you 'max out' the game just begins)

2. The world is not seamless. Towns is where everyone is, you assemble your party there, decide what skills you will use etc-> then you go and do your missions and quests without having to worry about some other random idiots camping around the best monsters and best loot. You can instantly travel at any time back to any town you have unlocked on your map.

3. Start with prophecies. Factions by itself will throw you off balance because its geared more toward getting you lvl 20 quicker, offering you technically LESS time to actually figure out what skills you like. Id say start with Nightfall if you want... but thats still a while away.

4. Join a guild as soon as you feel comfortable doing so... there are no shortages of people recruiting in the opening areas of the game. You dont have to STAY in the guild... but its good experience for learning the game, and they will probably answer any questions you have (you might go thru like half a dozen guilds or more before you find one that you like- some ppl NEVER join a guild.. but guilds are the way to go if you really want to experience the whole shabang)

5. You wont have to go do stupid things like have your character mine for iron or cut down trees for lumber-> its all about killing the bad guys and taking their loot.

6. Most information in the current two chapters can be found at gw.gamewikis.org and (personal opinion) this site is the best fan site to go to.

7. Any questions in specific you have? U play any other games like guild wars before?

Nice computer btw

EDIT-> keep in mind that there is no monthly fee, so you wont feel like you 'HAVE' to play it 10 hours a day to get your moneys worth.

ya i dont know much about runescape... hehe.

Hmmm... you konw what? The GuildWars website says that next weekend will be a free preview weekend for ANYONE whether they are previous customers or not. That is going to be your best chance to try-before-you-buy... If your computer gets here by then you can check it out for free and see if you like it or not...

i think those specs were more for show off reason than anything else XD

but the best thing to do is to get it and play it. The adventure and natural "kid-like" approach is part of the exploration and overall fun of the game.

In fact, i decided to make a pre-searing character (which you dont know about yet) just because of all the complications that you get involved with later and be overshadowing.

Either way, its a great game....and you should teach yourself how to play.

All i gotta say, i bought a Alienware computer around 3 years ago and let just say that is was the biggest waist of money i've ever had. First week i had it i started getting problems. Just giveing you a warning. But if you decide to go with it, good luck with that. As for Guildwars, its a very good game, go with prophecies and you will injoy it.

I'm going to assume that you were complimenting GW by saying that :P

You should also know that unlike many online games, this one doesn't have a subscription fee.

he has the good warranty and support package- i doubt he will run into problems anytime soon, unless he tries to take it apart or something.

and yes, i agree hes showing off

I have just ONE 512mb card and it runs the game at 30 fps... Id really like to see how far that machine will push GWs limits

I seriously can't see the point in spending that much money on a computer, unless you intend to go to space in it or something. And uh..in my opinion, I wouldn't bother with guild wars if you don't like PvP. That said, there's some (masochists) who play PvE alone.

Lol nearly as good a computer as mine

anyways PvE content is ok for 6months then its just dull

PvP content is ok but you need to learn fast and find a guild that will teach you

the whole trading system needs a revamp and should be getting one soon.

guild wars is alot more organized than runescape IMO, i've seen my freinds play it a bit and it looks very disorganized. i'd get propheices too, it'll occupy you longer.

banking system works like this, every city, you'll see a NPC called Xunlai Agent [Storage]. you can transfer items and money through that to other characters.

trading system works like this, you press on a persons name then press the trade button, you can trade a maximum of 100k and 7 items for 7 stacks of mateirals, collector items, etc

inventory works like this, you press I to go to your inventory and you have a maximum of 1 backpack (Customized to your character) it holds a maximum of 20 items, 1 bag which holds 5 items, and 2 bags which each hold 5 items unless you give it a rune of holding. rune of holding increases bag size from 5 items to 10 items.

hope that clears up some of your questions

Monk isn't the best starting char they require a certain amount of knowledge of how skills works and how ppl work.

best starting chars are

Ranger <~~most versatile char in the game
Necro <~~can be heavy dmg or a support char
Warrior <~~offers fair dmg and good armor

most ppl choose monk as secondary skill as this gives you some healing skills (the henchmen ain't all that great)

at the end of the day its your choice tho

i like assasin, ranger, elementalists, necro and monks

what would be the best combination?

and in runescape there are only 3 professions however they have weaknesses
for exmaple Mage > Warriors > Ranger

and rangers are better than mages so it evens out

are there any weaknesses in guild wars to even out the professions?

You can only play assassin if you buy Factions.

Every proffesion has it strong and weak points..dont worry Anet strive to make guildwars extremely balanced.

best char combo is hard to say because its down to your playing style if you wish to play "mage" then i say go necro if you wish to chop things then go warrior..ranged attacks then ranger.

Casters/Rangers - Weak armor is the most noticeable

Warriors - Average dmg output

That's the main two BUT both can be rectified by certain skills ect
